Day 1: Departure for Tbilisi
Day 2: Tbilisi
Tbilisi sightseeing tour, visit the Old Town and the State Museum Treasury.
Day 3: Tbilisi Mtskheta Shatili
We drive to Mtskheta - the ancient capital of Georgia and visit its Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. Then we continue our spectacular journey through the Grand Caucasus passing mountain villages, some of them inhabited with only two or three families. We get to Datvisjvari pass (2676m), then drive along the Arguni river and in the evening arrive at the fortified village of Shatili.
Day 4: Shatili Gudauri
Today we visit another fortified village of Mutso famous for its ancient towers and then continue along the Georgian Military Highway en route visiting Ananuri Complex. The drive gets very scenic as it heads up to Gudauri ski resort (2200m).
Day 5: Gudauri Kazbegi Gudauri
A stunning drive will bring us to the town of Kazbegi and we start our walk up through beautiful valleys and woodland to Gergeti Trinity Church (2170m). We then drive through the dramatic Dariali gorge before returning to Gudauri.
Day 6: Gudauri Kutaisi
We travel to West Georgia - the land of the Golden Fleece. We visit Bagrati Cathedral and Gelati Monastery and Academy. Overnight in Kutaisi.
Day 7: Kutaisi Zugdidi Mestia
From Kutaisi we travel to Zugdidi and then continue to Mestia, the centre of Svaneti the region of the highest mountains and glaciers and the most abiding ancient traditions. Overnight in Mestia.
Day 8: Mestia
Today we visit the Mestia Ethnographic Museum, the medieval Svanetian watch-towers, the so-called family churches and Lenjeri church painted inside and out.
Day 9: Mestia Ushguli
Another stunning drive will bring us to the highest permanent settlement in Europe - the village of Ushguli (a UNESCO world heritage site) - a place where high mountains, watchtowers and ancient traditions reign. Here we visit Lamaria Church with Mt Shkhara (5068m) in the background.
Day 10: Ushguli Lentekhi Kutaisi
From high mountains we descend to Lower Svaneti region passing the town of Lentekhi. In the evening we arrive in Kutaisi.
Day 11: Kutaisi Tbilisi
We drive to Tbilisi. After lunch free time to enjoy the city.
Day 12: Departure
Transfer to the airport.
