The
Great Silk Road - the busiest trade route of the past and
the busiest tourist route of today! The road existed since
the 2nd century BC and for centuries was an important trade
link between East and West. It connected the Caspian Sea with
the Trans-Caucasus, crossing Georgia and reaching Rome and
Byzantium via the Black Sea. It was a great incentive for
the development of Georgia's culture and economy. New towns
flourished and Georgians even produced their own silk.
This tour will take you to two Caucasian countries - Azerbaijan
and Georgia - and includes many historical places along the
Silk Road.
